The Branch retains the services of senior Members to act as Community Relations Officer / Professional Consultant (CRO/PC), on a part-time basis. Advice to members and the public is available on an impartial basis, often avoiding litigious confrontations. The service is available to all members of the ADAVB for advice on compliance and other professional matters. CRO/PCs are available to discuss and advise on any aspect of enquiries relating to professional life that may be more complex than members’ general enquiries answered by Branch administrative officers.
The CRO/PC service also plays a major role in providing an avenue for complaint resolution between members who hold their indemnity insurance through Guild Insurance Limited and their patients. The CRO/PCs are not authorised to provide this service on behalf of a member holding insurance through other providers, as the ADAVB has no agreement to act on behalf of these entities. Members who hold indemnity insurance through other providers will be notified of any written complaint and the complainant informed of alternative dispute resolution services.
The CRO/PCs act as a liaison with the ADAVB Defence Committee, where appropriate, and with the Health Services Commissioner, when the Branch's assistance is requested or required by members with PI cover through Guild?
In order to obtain the assistance of one of the CRO/PCs, ring the Branch Office on (03) 8825 4600.
