President
Matt joined Branch Council in 2005 and was elected President in 2011. He has served on the Branch's Continuing Professional Development Committee and Oral Health Education Committee, chaired the Public Dentistry Committee, and is a member of the ADA Inc. Special Purpose Committee Internship. Matt is Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Education at the Melbourne Dental School, and has previously worked in both public and private general practice and as a Dental Officer in the Australian Army. He is also currently Honorary Treasurer of the International Association for Dental Research (Australia and New Zealand Division). Matt has published and presented nationally and internationally with research interests in population oral health, cariology, older people and dental workforce, and has received numerous awards including the IADR/Morita Geriatric Award in 2010, WM & AV Eggleston Trust Excellence in Teaching Award 2006, IADR (ANZ) Award in Preventive and Community Dentistry in 2005 and the Colonel MGT Kenny Award 2004 for exemplary service to the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps.

Dr Gordon Burt BDS (Lond), LDS RCS Eng, MS (Minnesota), MSc (Lond) FRACDS, MRACDS (Pros), FADI
Vice President and Vice Chair Finance and Audit Committee
Gordon's involvement with the Branch began in 1996 when he joined the then
Professional Education Committee, and was Chair of the CPD Committee from 2004-09. He is a member of the Dental Advisory Committee Department of Veterans Affairs, has been an Examiner and Convener Final Examination Australian Dental Council, Secretary of the Australian Prosthodontic Society Victorian Branch and the Federal body. Since 1998 he has been a member of the Rotary International Australia Vietnam Dental Project. He is a prosthodontist in Melbourne.

Dr Anne Stewart BDS (Glas)
Immediate Past President
Anne is the Immediate Past President of the Branch. Anne is a member of the Practice+ Committee and the Grampians Region OHN.
She has served on the Finance and Audit Committee, chaired the ADC Candidate Mentoring and Support Ad Hoc Committee and represented the Branch on the Melbourne Dental School Undergraduate Studies and Curriculum Review Committee. She is a past Chair
of the Mid-Western Group. She is a founding partner in a large general
practice in Ballarat.

Dr Mark Bowman BDSc (Melb) FADI
Honorary Secretary and Federal Councillor
Mark was elected Honorary Secretary in 2010. He began service as secretary of Group Q in 1986, joined Branch Council 2004 and was Branch President (2007-08). He has served on several different committees and is currently a member of the Constitution Committee and chair of the Member Services Survey Committee. Elected to Federal Council in 2008, he is a member of the Federal Policy Committee. He is a past President Australian Society of Periodontology Vic Br (2003-04) and was elected Federal President ASP Inc. in 2010. He is a consultant with the Department of Veterans' Affairs and advisor to Department of Health and Ageing. He has a general practice in Hawthorn East.

Jo-Anne has been a member of the Infection Control Committee since 2001 and currently is its Chair. She is a Demonstrator at the Melbourne Dental School and is in general practice in the City.

Executive Councillor
Bob joined Council in 2006, having been Secretary to Group E for four years and was also Treasurer of that Group. Through his work in Donate-a-Day, he is known to many simply as Dr Bob. He is a general practitioner in Camberwell.

Dr Andrew J. Barnes BDSc (Melb)
Federal Councillor
A Councillor since 1996, Andrew has served as Honorary Treasurer, Vice President and President (2001-02). He has been a member and Chair of the Legislation, Recent Graduates and Finance and Audit Committees. Andrew is currently Chair of the Disputes and Ethics Committee. Andrew is a consultant with the Department of Veterans Affairs and a Dental Advisor to the Department of Health and Ageing. He has also served on the Department of Human Services’ Dental Intern Working Party. He has a general practice in Mill Park.

Dr Chris Callahan BA, BDSc (Melb), FRACDS, FADI, FICD
Chris is a general practitioner in Malvern and a former Branch President (2005-06). He became Honorary Treasurer in 2003, a year after being elected to Branch Council. Chris was Honorary Secretary 2008-10. He currently serves on the Third Party Committee, Constitution Committee, and Chairs the Ad Hoc Committee in General Dental Anaesthesia. Chris is a Visiting Dentist at the Alfred Hospital, an external examiner for the Final Year BDSc Melbourne Dental School and is a panellist examiner for the General Stream of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. He is a procedural panel member for the Dental Board of Australia. Chris was a Senior Clinical Demonstrator in Undergraduate Removable Prosthodontics at the School.

Dr Nathan Cochrane BDSc Hons (Melb), BDentStud (Melb), PhD (Melb)
Nathan was a member of the Third Party Committee for two years from 2003 and since then has been a member of the Oral Health Committee, which he currently chairs. He is also a member of the Continuing Professional Development Committee and the Federal Seal of Approval Committee. Nathan is in general practice at Southbank as well as being a Senior Research Fellow at the Melbourne Dental School. His research has been recognized by a number of prizes such as the CRC Early Career Scientist Award, Chancellor’s Prize and the R W Hession Award.

Dr David J. Curnow BDSc (Melb)
David joined the Council in 1992, and taking the path to Presidency (2002-03) by being Honorary Treasurer and Vice President. He has served on numerous Standing and Ad Hoc Committees including Legislation, Infection Control, Constitution and Recent Graduates Committees. David is a representative on the Guild Liaison Committee and has chaired the Suburban Group L and Practice Administration Committees. He is a member of ADA Inc. Schedule and Third Party Committee. David has also acted as both Country Group Co-ordination and Suburban Group Co-ordinator. David was a recipient of the ADAVB Award for Distinguished Service (2009). His general practice is in Dandenong.

Dr Robert De Poi BDSc (Melb), MSD (Indiana) FRACDS
Robert was elected to Branch Council in 2008, having been Secretary of the 1993 ADA Congress Committee – Scientific Division and (continuing to be) a member of the Policy Advisory Committee Professional Provident Fund. He is a member of the Constitution Committee. He was Secretary and is President of the Australian Society of Periodontology Victorian Branch. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Melbourne Dental School and part-time Clinical Instructor of the Graduate Periodontics program. He is a member of the CPD committee of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontology and was a member of the Student Advisory Committee of the American Academy of Periodontology. Robert was a member of the Victorian Regional Committee of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, the Australian Prosthodontics Society Victorian Branch and was a Clinical Demonstrator with the Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry. His periodontal practice is in Moonee Ponds.

Dr Anne Harrison BDSc (Hons) DCD (Melb) MRACDS (Endo) FADI FICD
Anne joined Council in 2003 and was elected to President in 2009. She has chaired the Recent Graduates Committee as well as representing the Branch on a number of committees and boards. Currently she is a member of the Membership Services Survey Committee and is a Director of the eviDent Foundation. Anne has volunteered in dental teams in Vietnam and East Timor. She practices as an Endodontist in Moonee Ponds and maintains a regional practice in Wodonga.

Dr Neil Hewson BSc (Hons) (Monash), BDSc (Melb), LDS (Vic), FADI, FICD, FPFA
Federal Councillor, Immediate Past Federal President
Neil has served the dental profession in many ways starting as Secretary of Group R in 1985. He was President of the Branch in 1995/96, Branch Honorary Secretary 1997/2008.elected an Honorary Life Member of the Branch in 2001 and awarded the Dentistry Achievement Award in 2008. He has been a Branch Council member since 1987 and has represented the Branch on many occasions at meetings and on other organisations’ committees. Neil has chaired and served on most Branch Committees and currently is Chair of the Branch Constitution and Honours and Awards Committees. He has been a Federal Councillor (since 1996), has served on and chaired several ADA Inc committees, and is currently on four committees. He was Federal President 2008/2010 and was elected an Honorary Life Member of the Association in 2010. In 2009 Neil’s contribution to the Melbourne Dental School was recognised when he was appointed a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne. He is a director of the Australian Dental Association Foundation, the Australian Dental Council and Oral Health CRC. Neil has a general practice in Heidelberg West in partnership with his brother Ian.

Dr Ben Keith BDSc (Melb) MPH (Monash)
Ben is a Senior Lecturer at the Bendigo campus of La Trobe University. He is also a Sessional Member at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, Manager of the Ben Keith Myanmar Project and a Board Member of The Otis Foundation. He is also the dentist at the Rumbalara Aboriginal Cooperative.

Dr Elizabeth Milford BDSc (QLD) MBA (MBS)
Elizabeth is a member of the Branch’s Finance and Audit Committee and Public Dentistry Committee and a past member of the Quality Assurance Committee. She is involved in policy development and implementation regarding workforce development of the public sector and is a casual lecturer of the BOH program. Elizabeth has managed the undergraduate teaching clinic at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne where she continues to be attached.

Dr Greg Morris BDSc (Melb), LDS (Vic)
Chair, Finance and Audit Committee
A former Branch President (2006-07), Greg joined the Branch Council in 2004 after having been involved with a number of committees. He was Chair of the Dental Health Education Committee, Group E and served on the Graduate Education Committee. He has also been Secretary of the Dental Health Education Committee, GEC and Practice Management Committee. Greg is Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee and sits on the Quality Assurance Panel and the Third Part Committee. He has a general practice in Hawthorn.

Dr Susan Wise BDSc (Melb), MDSc (QLD), MRACDS (Perio)
Susan Chaired the Dental Health Education Committee for four years from 2005. Susan continues to be involved in numerous non-Branch activities. She is the President of the Australian Society of Periodontology Victorian Branch. Susan was a committee member of the Victorian Women’s Dental Association and was actively involved in the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity’s Sydney and Melbourne Chapters. She has been a Demonstrator with the Melbourne Dental School, the University of Sydney and the University of Queensland. Susan was also an Examiner with the Australian Dental Council and dental school. Her periodontal practice is in McKinnon.
